PHLEBOTOMY/EKG INSTRUCTOR POOL
Position SummaryThe purpose of this position is to provide high quality instruction and maintain a positive, safe learning environment for all students by instructing assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need.
Job Duties- Teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need.
- Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction.
- Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes.
- Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.
- Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes within college policy and procedures.
- Review, evaluate, recommend and effectively use student learning materials.
- Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus that follows the Course Syllabus Guidelines and facilitates a clear understanding between student and instructor of the content, goals, requirements, expectations, evaluation methods and schedule of work.
- Maintain daily attendance rosters.
- Submit final hard copies of daily attendance rosters and grade sheets to the Continuing Education Department.
- Perform specimen collection, phlebotomy (including mobile route) and drug test monitoring; review lab reports and conduct quality review and troubleshooting, resolving problems as they occur; demonstrate to students how to obtain blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary techniques, label samples, send specimens to the laboratory for analysis, and complete essential records.
- Demonstrate fundamentals of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, basic electrocardiography procedures, interpretation of basic dysrhythmias and appropriate treatment modalities; describe the anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system, perform basic electrocardiography procedures, and interpret basic dysrhythmias.
- Certifications in related field and/or High School Diploma.
- Minimum 5 years related work experience.
- Some disciplines may require additional education or certification.
- Two (2) years teaching or training experience; experience developing lesson plans, classroom management, and curriculum.
