Job DescriptionThe Department of Psychology and Sociology at Texas A&M University
- Corpus Christi invites applications for two full‑time tenure‑track Assistant/Associate Professors in Clinical or Counseling Psychology. The Psychology programs are among the largest in the College of Liberal Arts with approximately 500 majors, 100 minors, and 40 graduate students.
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology, expected to be conferred by the time of appointment, and must be licensed or license‑eligible as a psychologist in Texas. Priority is given to candidates with research and clinical interests in forensic psychology, but candidates with other clinical research interests are encouraged to apply.
Successful candidates will be expected to teach clinical psychology courses at the undergraduate and master’s level—including courses in psychological assessment, psychopathology, and psychotherapy—and may have opportunities to develop courses in their area of specialization. Tenure‑track faculty carry a standard 3‑3 teaching load.
In addition to teaching, the successful candidate’s research activities will include mentoring student research and supervising master’s thesis students in the Clinical Psychology MA program, providing clinical supervision to master’s level students, and actively engaging in service to the department, college, university, and profession.
The department emphasizes research productivity, an agenda aligned with TAMU‑CC and the community, and pursuit of external funding. The successful candidate should also have an understanding of multicultural issues and relevant experience in applying this understanding to pedagogy and clinical practice.
Required Qualifications- Earned Ph.D. or Psy.
D. in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or School Psychology from an APA or CPA accredited program; ABD considered if the degree will be conferred by the time of appointment. - License‑eligible as a psychologist in Texas at the time of appointment.
- For Associate Professor rank, a minimum of five years experience at assistant professor or comparable rank.
- Licensed as a psychologist, preferably in Texas.
- Clinical experience or research focused on forensic psychology or justice‑involved populations.
- Experience and/or ability to effectively develop and teach clinical psychology courses at the master’s and undergraduate level.
- A record of, or potential for, research productivity and a research agenda suited to TAMU‑CC.
- Interest and/or experience in seeking external funding for research.
- A record of mentoring students in research.
