Portuguese Language Instructor Pool

Overview

Portuguese Language Instructor pool for part-time, temporary, hourly assignments on an as‑needed basis within the Continuing Education department.

• Teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations, using diverse teaching methods to accommodate students with differing backgrounds.
• Develop lesson plans and curriculum; maintain a clear course syllabus following the Course Syllabus Guidelines.
• Assess students' progress, enter final grades into WebDMC, and submit attendance rosters and grade sheets to the Continuing Education Department.
• Maintain daily attendance rosters and a classroom environment that promotes learning.
• Introduce students to Portuguese communication skills, covering greetings, expressions, and cultural topics.
• Use instructional technologies, including computers and internet resources, to enhance instruction.
• Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.

• Five (5) years of related work experience.

• Plan course instruction based on an approved syllabus to ensure objectives are met.
• Utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods for diverse learning styles.
• Employ instructional technologies (computers, internet resources, other media) in instruction.
• Advanced Portuguese language communication skills.
• Clear communication of Portuguese language skills to students.

• Two (2) years of teaching or training experience.
• Experience developing lesson plans and curriculum.
