Court Reporting Instructor: CSR-Certified & Canvas

Job Responsibilities

• Teach assigned Continuing Education Court Reporting courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need. Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction.
• Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes.
• Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.
• Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes within the College grade and grade appeals procedures.
• Review, evaluate, recommend, and effectively use student learning materials.
• Maintain a classroom environment that promotes teaching and learning.
• Maintain daily attendance rosters. Input final student grades. Submit final hard copies of daily attendance rosters and grade sheets to Career Training in the Continuing Education Department.

• Associate’s degree or higher.

• Ability to evaluate the performance of students regarding achievements in curriculum and activities and make necessary provisions to meet learning needs.
• Ability to prepare lectures and practical demonstrations for students in class.
• Ability to maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
• Ability to utilize instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources, and other appropriate media instruction.
• Ability to plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outline, provided to ensure course content and objectives are met.

• Previous experience teaching/conducting a course/program in a post-secondary setting.
• Prior experience with CANVAS.
• Experience developing curriculum.
• Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) issued by Judicial Branch Certification Commission (JBCC).

• Ensure class instruction meets Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) Certification and industry standards.
• Maintain a classroom environment that promotes teaching and learning.
• Maintain and submit daily attendance rosters and grade sheets to the Continuing Education Department by department deadlines.
• Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes within college policy and procedures.
• Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction.
