Position SummaryDemonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities with Floral Design and teach assigned courses at various times and locations in response to institutional need. Continuously advance the quality of instruction.
Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes.
Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
Evaluate students to measure progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes within the college grading system and appeals procedures. Review and recommend student learning materials.
Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus that follows the Course Syllabus Guidelines and facilitates a clear understanding between student and instructor of the content, goals, requirements, expectations, evaluation methods, and schedule of work.
Maintain a classroom environment that promotes teaching and learning.
Maintain daily attendance rosters, input final student grades into WebDMC, and submit final hard copies of daily attendance rosters and grade sheets to the Continuing Education Department.
Responsibilities- Plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outline to ensure course content and objectives are met.
- Utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate diverse learning styles of students.
- Utilize instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources, and other appropriate media in instruction.
- Maintain daily attendance rosters.
- Input final student grades into WebDMC.
- Submit final hard copies of daily attendance rosters and grade sheets to the Continuing Education Department.
- Introduce students to basic floral design techniques and design methods, including basic design styles, principles and elements of design, proper care of cut flowers, positioning of skeletal flowers and filler, cutting and wiring stems, and use of various mechanical aids.
- Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
Three (3) years related work experience.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities- Plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outline to ensure content and objectives are met.
- Utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods for diverse learning styles.
- Utilize instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources, and other media in instruction.
- Knowledge of the Floral Design Profession.
- Two (2) years teaching or training experience.
- Experience developing lesson plans and curriculum.
