Ministerial Character

The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (“the Diocese”) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.

Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.

Responsibilities
  • Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life.
  • Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Participate in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities for continuous ministry growth.
  • Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of the school and the Diocese of Corpus Christi.
  • Adhere to safety training and protocols daily and take precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self and others.
  • Protect confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service of the organization, including client names, services rendered, donor information, investigations, and financial information.
  • Apply a solution-oriented approach in interactions and serve as a team member promoting collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization.
  • Differentially adapt lessons and activities for students of various ages and abilities, and participate in and evaluate effectiveness of activities and events.
  • Prepare and gather materials and supplies prior to programs daily.
  • Assist and supervise children during all activities following child care guidelines in a proactive manner, making safety and care of children the primary focus.
  • Assist children with meal and snack time.
  • Follow cleaning and sanitizing procedures to clean up the site when children depart; inspect and return supplies to appropriate place.
  • Ensure that site appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment are appropriately maintained.
  • Assist in enrollment, recording, and submitting daily attendance records and any required documents assigned by site coordinator.
  • Build a positive relationship with each after-school participant and foster positive connections between participants.
  • Actively engage with children at all times with the goal of fostering positive development of each child and the group.
  • Communicate appropriate information to parents and interact professionally and appropriately with children, parents, school staff, community members, and partners.
  • Effectively manage assigned group, maintain and enforce progressive discipline policy, and report observations and incidents to site coordinator or school principal.

  • Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or more.
  • Ability to maintain composure under duress.
Qualifications
  • Education
    • High Diploma with demonstrated relevant equivalent experience in working with school-age children and/or youth development.
    • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • License and Credentials
    • Reliable transportation.
    • Valid Texas driver license.
    • Valid vehicle insurance.
  • Minimum Knowledge and Skills
    • Understand and apply basic child and adolescent development principles.
    • Communicate and develop positive relationships with youth.
    • Adapt, facilitate, and evaluate age-appropriate activities with and for the group.
