FunctionUnder supervision of the principal, assistant principal(s), and teachers, the paraprofessional III assists in implementing the Bilingual/English as a Second Language (ESL) programs for students. The paraprofessional III is responsible for providing English Learners (ELs) with instructional support to reinforce the campus Bilingual/ESL programs. The paraprofessional will also assist the Campus LPAC Chair in maintaining Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) documentation for English Language Learners (ELs).

Director for Special Programs
ResponsibilitiesPlans with the Bilingual/ESL teacher to provide English-acquisition instructional program elements to students, appropriate to the different needs of students, served by the program. Assists Bilingual/ESL teachers in preparation, organization, and management of materials and equipment that complement the instructional focus of each lesson plan. Provides a continuous reinforcement of English-language patterns in a consistent manner. Assists Bilingual/ESL teacher in administering language-proficiency instruments at the beginning of each school year and in the spring.
Exhibits awareness of learning styles of students, and recognizes changes. Recommend parents for parent involvement activities. Attends in-service workshops and conferences as needed and/or required. Participates in additional professional development in the area of technology, Bilingual/ESL education, Sheltered Instruction, parent involvement strategies, and needs of at-risk students. Works collaboratively with the principal, assist teacher(s), parents, and students.
