College And Career Mentor

Education/Certification

Required:

High School graduate or GED who are currently enrolled and in good standing with local colleges/universities Minimum of 12 completed college semester hours

Experience (Preferred):
Teaching, tutoring or mentoring experience desired. Experience working with High School aged students preferred.

Knowledge/

Skills Required:

Mentors must be capable of providing positive support for pupils, in individual and small group settings. They must possess good oral and written communication skills, along with the ability to relate to pupils with multicultural backgrounds.

Required:

Applied use of computer operations Applied use of software productivity tools Applied use of e-mail Applied use of student management systems Applied use of electronic file management

Function Under the general supervision of a principal or designee and the district CCMR Specialist, mentors assist students in searching for, selecting, and applying for college and/or technical schools. They also assist students in searching for and applying for financial assistance and scholarships.

Campus Principal/Specialist for CCMR

Responsibilities:
Duties at the School Site:
May perform any combination of the following at the school site:
Provide college or career research assistance to students. Provide assistance in completing admissions, scholarship, or financial aid applications. Serve as a positive role model for students. Encourage high academic achievement. Motivate students to continue in a college preparatory course of study throughout high school. Assist counselor in meeting district initiatives and deadlines. Perform other duties as assigned by administrators and/or the CCMR Specialist including working with individual students, leading group discussions, and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities to the District:
Must perform duties in a dependable, responsible manner, including:
Attend all required training sessions with the CCMR Specialist, principal, or assigned campus counselor. Attend all meetings or other required events. Report to the school site in accordance with the established hours of work which were agreed upon with the campus principal and CCMR Specialist. Report absences in accordance with school district policies and procedures. Cooperate fully with district staff, counselors, CCMR Specialist, teachers and administrators.

This is a position that is funded totally by funds provided to CCISD through a Federal Grant. The selected applicant will be required to acknowledge that there is a possibility that their employment will be terminated if these funds are no longer available to CCISD or if CCISD redirects these funds to another function in order to better serve the best interest of the District.
