Function:
Assist teacher in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements; work under supervision of certified teacher.
Reports To:
Report to Campus Principal
Responsibilities:
Instructional Support Assist teacher in preparing and presenting instructional materials Help maintain neat and orderly classroom Student Management Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups on learning activities Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom; this includes, but is not limited to, lunchroom, bus, and job site.
Provide personal care to include diapering and other essential needs, medical care, and feeding of students as stated in IEP Keep administrator informed of special needs or problems of individual students Other Assist with routine record keeping Follow behavior plans as directed by teacher and ARD Committee Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned Comply with District policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations Adhere to the District's safety policies and procedures Maintain confidentiality in the conduct of District business Must be able to perform the essential functions of walking and interacting with students and/or District employees in the specific work site assigned (classroom or office setting) Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None Working Conditions Ability to deal effectively with special education ethical and legal issues on an on-going basis that involve parent(s)/guardian(s), students, administration, campus-based personnel, community agencies, and other professionals. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) Maintain emotional control under stress Follow behavioral intervention plans and procedures Frequent District-wide and occasional statewide travel; occasional prolonged hours. Frequent moving, standing, bending, pulling, pushing, reaching, moving small stacks, moving classroom or adaptive equipment Frequent light lifting and occasional heavy lifting
