Special Education Case Manager - Elementary 2026/2027 School Year

Location: Flour Bluff Elementary, Corpus Christi, Texas

Job Description

Primary

Purpose:

The case manager ensures the success of students receiving special education services. They work collaboratively with parents, teachers, administrators, and district assessment staff to develop and implement appropriate Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for their caseload and monitor progress.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with the required endorsements for the subject and level assigned, or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan.
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a special education teacher.
  • Knowledge of assigned subjects, curriculum and instruction, and ability to instruct students and manage behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Collaborate and communicate with students, parents, teachers, diagnosticians, speech therapists, related service providers, and administrators.
  • Monitor student grades, attendance, and behavior; intervene to address concerns.
  • Schedule and attend staffing meetings as needed to address student needs and plan for difficult decisions.
  • Request and attend program reviews as requested to address student needs.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed according to IEP guidelines.
  • Maintain communication and update student information as changes occur.
  • Disseminate information to parents, teachers, and related services as changes occur.
  • Prepare and attend ARDs; conduct ARDs.
  • Update goals and objectives for progress reports.
  • Update student status as changes occur.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, teachers, and other stakeholders.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job–related skills.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all required reports, records, and other documents.
  • Attend scheduled special education staff department meetings as required.
