Position SummaryThis is a continuous recruitment for an applicant pool to fill part‑time, temporary, hourly assignments on an as‑needed basis.
The Construction Skills Instructor is responsible for providing classroom instruction, distance learning instruction, and practical shop experience to prepare students for employment in a variety of jobs in the field of Construction.
The Instructor will teach courses related to core skills used in residential and commercial construction settings, including carpentry, electrical wiring, plumbing, landscaping, painting, and other general construction trades.
Minimum Qualifications- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Five (5) years of relevant work experience.
- Ability to plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outline.
- Ability to utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate diverse learning styles of students.
- Successful experience utilizing instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources and other appropriate media in instruction.
- Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.
- Successful teaching or vocational training experience.
- Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and methods which enhance student success.
- Knowledge of a learning college and/or knowledge of learning communities.
- Experience teaching college level online courses and/or documented successful training in a college online learning management system (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas).

Job Duties- Teach Continuing Education courses for the Construction Skills Training program, including carpentry, electrical wiring, plumbing, landscaping, painting, and other general trades using approved curriculum.
- Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction; maintain a classroom environment that promotes teaching and learning; maintain student discipline through effective classroom management.
- Prepare course syllabi and instructional materials; develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students; review, evaluate, recommend, and effectively use student learning materials.
- Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes within the College grade and grade appeals procedures.
- Maintain daily attendance rosters; input final student grades into WebDMC; submit final hard copies of daily attendance rosters and grade sheets to the Continuing Education Department.
