This is a Labor Intensive position which requires a drug and physical exam for employment as well as receipt of a Negative TB Test. This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill Part-Time/Adjunct assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises.

Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide support services for the Child Development/Early Childhood Program and the Center for Early Learning.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Twelve (12) college credit hours in Child Development or Early Education.
  • Six (6) months experience in a licensed early childhood program (ages 0-5 years).
  • Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certification (documentation of current certification is required prior to first day of employment).
  • Negative TB Test (documentation of current certification is required prior to first day of employment).
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Knowledge of Minimum Standards of Child Care Centers.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of high quality early childhood programs.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with students, staff, parents and Del Mar College faculty.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of children and staff information.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Child Development/Early Childhood.
  • One year experience in a NAEYC accredited early childhood program.

Job Duties
  • Monitoring front desk activities to facilitate students and parents entering and/or exiting the child care center.
  • Assisting and/or guiding students enrolled in Child Development courses requiring early childhood classroom observations.
  • Assisting with front desk clerical responsibilities as needed.
