St. John PaulII Academy – High School, Corpus Christi, TX (78415) is hiring a Social Studies Teacher for the 2026‑2027 school year. Salary range: $35,000.00 – $40,000.00.
St. John PaulII Academy is a Catholic school that seeks teachers who support the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life.
ResponsibilitiesAs an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life.
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Participates in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed.
- Plans for successful student learning of daily objectives that include basic knowledge and skills, and central concepts of the discipline.
- Ensures students are engaged and successful in learning, critical thinking, and problem solving.
- Effectively manages time and materials.
- Maintains current records for student grades and progress.
- Provides engaging instruction, possesses a high level of content mastery, and is experienced at teaching high school‑level social studies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in social studies or Bachelor’s degree plus 24 hours in social studies content.
- 12 credit hours in education or the appropriate state certification.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License.
- Minimum age 21 years.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction in their area of certification.
- Knowledge of effective instructional, assessment, and motivational strategies that promote authentic student engagement.
- Planning and organization skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills with students and adults.
- Ability to embed available technology into daily lesson plans.
- Must submit to required pre‑employment screening including criminal history background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug screening.
- Complete certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child and Family Resources.
- Adherence to all diocesan policies and procedures.
- Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or more.
- Ability to maintain composure under duress and emotional control under stress.
- Maintain confidentiality.
