This continuous recruitment is for a term instructor – temporary, full‑time, to fill term assignments on an as‑needed basis. Applicants remain in the pool for one year; after that they must reapply.
The successful applicant will be expected to provide quality instruction to address recently identified current events, skills, knowledge, and/or attitudes and behaviors pertinent to the technology or occupation and relevant to the professional development of the student.
Responsibilities- Teach courses at varied times and locations in response to institutional need.
- Make continuous effort to advance the quality of instruction.
- Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students with differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes.
- Review, evaluate, recommend, and effectively use student learning materials.
- Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus that follows the course syllabus guidelines and facilitates a clear understanding of content goals, requirements, expectations, evaluation methods, and schedule of work.
- Hold scheduled, posted virtual or physical office hours of at least one hour daily and be available for and encourage conferences with students to clarify the students’ work and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or a related field.
- Five years of teaching experience.
- Organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective instructor.
- Knowledge and abilities in the teaching discipline.
- Commitment to teaching strategies and methods that enhance student success.
- Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.
- Ability to plan course instruction based upon an approved syllabus/outline provided.
- Ability to utilize a variety of teaching styles to accommodate diverse learning styles of students.
- Successful experience utilizing instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources, and other appropriate media in instruction.
