The purpose of this position is to tutor mathematics students, enhance their mathematics knowledge and help them develop skills necessary to succeed in a variety of math courses. Tutors will utilize a collaborative and interactive process to enable and encourage students to become a more effective and independent learner.

• Help and guide students with math-related problems
• Conduct individual and small group tutorials
• Greet and assist students with signing in
• Manage and create resources
• Attend staff meetings
• Maintain an organized and neat facility
• Participate in ongoing training
• Market and promote the Math Learning Center

• Current Del Mar College student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours while employed
• Completion of at least 12 credit hours
• At least a B average in all math courses

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong mathematical skills and logical reasoning
• Capable of working with students from different cultural backgrounds, and various academic levels and needs
• Ability to effectively articulate mathematical concepts

• Prior tutoring experience
• STEM concentrated degree plan
• Completion of Calculus I with high standing
• Knowledge of learning management systems (preferably Canvas)
• Proficient with a variety of calculators and math software such as My Math Lab
