Primary

Purpose:

Provides coaching and support to classroom teachers to ensure the continuous development of instructional skills among assigned teachers. Evaluate the performance of assigned classroom teachers. Model lessons which include best instructional practices in instruction for school teachers, monitor classroom instruction, and coach teachers in best practices for instruction, including the implementation of instructional technology.

TitleI, PartA, supports campuses in implementing either a school wide program (SWP) or a targeted assistance program (TAP). (

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Master's degree from accredited university (Preferred)

Valid Texas teaching certificate

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation

Ability to interpret data and evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness

Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

3 years teaching experience in subject areas assigned

Responsibilities and Duties:

Staff Development
  • Work collaboratively with assigned classroom teachers to establish realistic and measurable objectives related to both the teacher's individual professional development and student learning.
  • Support the continuous professional growth and improvement of teacher instructional skills through coaching and collaborative problem solving.
  • Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and coaching to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation. Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in classroom.
  • Evaluate teacher effectiveness in accordance with established district programs.
  • Collaborate with district, campus administration, and teachers to review and develop curriculum components including assessments, aligned to district curriculum.
  • Provide individual and/or group instructional coaching and mentoring to teachers to improve classroom instruction for all learners.
  • Plan and provide appropriate staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff.
  • Lead and Participate in PLCS
Instructional and Program Management
  • Utilize the district curriculum as a guide to create and implement checkpoint assessments.
  • Work with teachers to analyze and interpret student data and use findings to develop and apply instructional strategies.
  • Develop curricular or behavioral support materials as needed.
  • Manage and distribute instructional resources to teachers and provide training on the use of those resources.
  • Encourage and support the implementation of technology and innovative strategies in the classroom.
  • Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in area assigned.
Other
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)

Environment: Work inside; frequent district wide travel; occasional statewide travel
