Term Instructor - Automotive Pool

Responsibilities

• Teach a minimum regular course load per semester, including online courses and/or dual credit/early college classes.
• Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the teaching discipline and teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations.
• Make continuous efforts to advance instruction quality; develop and use diverse teaching methods and materials to assist students with varied backgrounds.
• Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.
• Plan course instruction based on approved syllabus/outline to meet objectives.
• Accommodate diverse learning styles with varied teaching methods.
• Teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.
• Apply teaching strategies that enhance student success.
• Apply knowledge of learning college and/or learning communities.
• Use Microsoft Office Suite for basic computer tasks.
• Evaluate students’ progress toward course outcomes, review and recommend appropriate learning materials.
• Provide students with a written, accessible course syllabus following guidelines.
• Maintain classroom environment that promotes teaching and learning.
• Hold daily office hours (virtual or physical).
• Assist in academic advising of declared majors.
• Assist with marketing programs and recruiting students.
• Review, evaluate, and revise assessments of program and institutional student learning outcomes, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Participate in self‑evaluation and establish goals and objectives for professional development.
• Maintain professional standards and engage in professional development activities.
• Serve on committees and other college activities, including attendance at meetings and accreditation processes.
• Participate in college planning and budgeting activities.
• Conduct community activities that promote the mission.

• Associate’s in Applied Science degree in Automotive.
• Current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification in G1‑Auto Maintenance & Light Repair and A6‑Electrical/Electronics.
• At least five (5) years of work experience in the automotive field,
  * or* ten (10) years of experience and agreement to complete an Associate’s degree within 36 months.

• Experience utilizing instructional technologies, including computers and internet resources in instruction.
• Experience teaching college‑level online courses or documenting successful training in a college LMS (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas).
• Master Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification.
