Salary- Transportation Engineer II (B25): $80,704–$114,099 per year
- Transportation Engineer III (B26): $89,755–$129,430 per year
- Transportation Engineer IV (B27): $98,730–$142,374 per year
- Negotiate and monitor consultant design contracts, ensuring scope, fees, and quality standards are met.
- Develop complex planning and design studies, analyze program funding scenarios, and assess project progress versus baseline schedules.
- Coordinate and review plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) submissions and special specifications, providing technical support on site and monitoring consultants’ progress.
- Assist project managers in resource assignments, schedule development, scope communication, quality control, and procurement, applying project management principles throughout the project life cycle.
- Lead and train professional and administrative staff, presenting findings and representing TxDOT at meetings and events.
- Perform advanced engineering design work, including layout development, specification drafting, and cost estimation for complex transportation projects.
- Oversee consultant selection documentation, contract processing, and quality performance measurement, verifying project eligibility and assisting with ranking projects and funding.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related science; graduate level education may substitute experience on a year‑per‑year basis.
- Valid Texas driver’s license and a professional engineer (PE) license in another U.S. state, with or without a Texas PE license, meeting the Texas Engineering Practices Act requirements.
- Minimum 2–4 years of progressive project development and design experience in transportation engineering, including contract negotiation, cost estimation, and schedule analysis.
- Proficiency in project management software, critical path method (CPM) scheduling, and cost control techniques.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.
- Ability to travel 5% of the time to project and consultant work sites.
