Job Title:
Outage Planner
The Outage Planner supports critical transmission projects by developing, coordinating, and optimizing outage reservations for transmission substations and transmission lines. This role works closely with transmission planning, project management, transmission operations, and field services to ensure that outage plans are feasible, well‑coordinated, and aligned with overall project schedules and system reliability goals. The Outage Planner evaluates system conditions, resolves scheduling conflicts, and leverages established tools and processes to enhance reliability and operational performance throughout the project life cycle.
Responsibilities- Engage and work directly with Transmission Planning and Transmission Operations personnel to develop facility outage reservations that support and enhance future project schedules.
- Facilitate the resolution of outage reservation coordination conflicts and identify, propose, and implement alternative solutions when needed.
- Utilize existing tools, systems, and processes to communicate proposed outage plans and reservations to various transmission groups and stakeholders.
- Manage multiple outage planning reservation scenarios simultaneously, ensuring that each scenario is evaluated for feasibility and impact.
- Assist in securing future outage reservations for upcoming projects to support timely and efficient project execution.
- Assist in prioritizing outage reservations to optimize overall benefits, including system reliability and earnings.
- Coordinate and collaborate with Transmission Operations to evaluate system conditions before submitting outage reservations.
- Actively review abnormal system conditions to support planning and coordination of outage reservations for upcoming projects.
- Optimize outage planning and regional transmission organization (RTO) reservations with other projects that may be impacted by proposed future outage reservations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field with five years of related experience associated with outage planning, or equivalent education and 10 years of related experience within transmission engineering, transmission dispatching, distribution dispatching, or construction management.
- Thorough knowledge of the transmission system from both design and operation perspectives.
- Experience in transmission engineering, transmission dispatching, distribution dispatching, and/or construction management.
The role is based in a quiet engineering office environment designed to support focused analytical work and collaboration. The dress code is business casual. Teamwork is highly encouraged and occurs frequently, with regular interaction among transmission planning, transmission operations, project management, and field services teams. The work involves extensive use of planning tools, communication systems, and established processes to coordinate outage reservations and evaluate system conditions.
JobType & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Corpus Christi, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.00 - $57.69/hr.
