Position Overview
Flint Hills Resources (FHR), a leading refining company with over 130,000 employees, is seeking an Advanced Process Control Engineer at its Corpus Christi, Texas facility. The Engineer will develop, implement, and optimize Advanced Process Control (APC) and Real‑Time Optimization (RTO) applications to maximize refinery performance and profitability.
Responsibilities- Identify and implement APC and RTO process control applications that align with business vision, working with site teams and cross‑site resources.
- Collaborate with Operations and Process Control Capability team members to ensure control applications function as designed, deliver real benefits, and maintain high uptimes.
- Make ongoing improvements to existing APC and RTO application models and configurations.
- Implement new APC and RTO technologies, including nonlinear models and AI/machine‑learning algorithms.
- Align economic strategies and process control strategies to fully optimize refinery operations.
- Mentor less‑experienced process control engineers in APC and RTO technologies.
- Collaborate with other process control, automation, and innovation resources throughout FHR and Koch Industries via knowledge networks and conferences.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Experience working in the refining or chemical processing industries.
- Experience delivering value‑added process control and APC applications (multivariable, model‑based solutions).
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
- 5+ years of APC experience in the refining or chemical processing industries.
- Experience with Aspentech applications (e.g., DMC3, Aspen IQ, Aspen Watch, GDOT, HYSYS).
- Experience with the Emerson Delta V DCS system.
This role is subject to the Transportation Workers Identification Credentialing (TWIC) rule and requires the successful candidate to obtain a TWIC identification badge, allowing for un‑escorted access to the facility within a specific time period.
