The Corpus Christi District is looking for a team lead for their Survey section. This person will oversee the in-house survey and data collection activities as well as overseeing consultant contracts performing survey work for the district. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be involved with a wide variety of projects in the district.

Position Description

Leads multiple Department survey parties and oversees contracted survey parties in a district for the purpose of determining boundaries and topography of real property. Oversees the compilation, update and maintenance of real property maps; provides analysis and technical assistance, support, coordination and advice for the development, implementation and maintenance of land surveying-related information technology/systems (IT/IS) and applications to include global positioning and geographic information systems (GPS/GIS).

Serves as project lead. Work requires contact with governmental and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct responsibility for the work product. Essential Duties:
Develops guidelines, procedures and policies for district surveying activities Plans, schedules and oversees surveys utilizing Global Positioning System (GPS) technology. Reviews district and consultant survey procedures for compliance with department, state and federal standards. Serves as liaison between TxDOT management, design staff and department or consultant survey crews. Analyzes field notes to resolve land boundary conflicts. Assists in development of budgets.

Coordinates and schedules work for photogrammetry and aerial mapping surveys. Coordinates work with other sections and assists as requested. Coordinates, prioritizes and directs the work of the district survey staff (state and contracted forces). Identifies and defines parcels for use in transportation projects by using relevant elements of surveying, property description writing, mapping, law, research, measurement, analysis and computation. Provides support services for global positioning and geographic information systems and the Department's Regional Reference Points to include coordination of activities with other governmental agencies.

Monitors department/consultant survey work performance. Monitors survey parties and plans future jobs. Originates, signs and seals property descriptions and oversees setting of monument property corners. Oversees the compilation, update and maintenance of real property maps or mapping as defined by the Texas Board of Professional Land Surveying Prepares reports and makes presentations. Provides guidance for staff pursuing staff pursuing SIT and RPLS registration.
