Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all aquatic life in the PCC are receiving appropriate care by adhering to all operational guidelines, policies, and procedures; perform aquatic maintenance; assess and address aquatic life health and conditions; create Companion Animal Incident Reports as needed.
  • Complete and apply training programs to maintain a high level of expertise and educate other PCC partners in aquatic care and maintenance.
  • Effectively place aquatic life orders and special-order requests to maximize sales and inventory to meet customer needs.
  • Act as primary resource, utilizing the selling model to support guests and PCC partners regarding all aquatic education and care.
  • Participate in completing all aquatic life physical inventory counts; collaborate with the CAL to analyze department inventory management data and results, and recommend areas for improvement.
  • Ensure aquatic life and merchandise are stocked, priced, and displayed to create a great presentation; perform routine housekeeping tasks (e.g., aquarium system maintenance, sweeping/mopping floors, dusting).
  • Accurately complete required digital paperwork (e.g., water test results, receiving POs) in a timely manner within the aquatic department.
  • Performs additional duties and projects as required or assigned with or without regular supervision.
Other Essential Duties
  • UTILIZE SELLING BEHAVIORS:
    Provide an amazing guest experience within Pet Care Center locations; use the sales model to identify and solve needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

Minimum of one year of experience working with and/or caring for freshwater and marine aquatic life. Knowledge of aquatic life and aptitude for sales techniques. Professional appearance and demeanor, genuine interest in animals and their care. Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills for interaction with the public, partners, leaders, and external veterinary partners.

Certification

Completing all assigned Petco Animal Care training programs is required.

Education/Skills

High school diploma or equivalent; proficiency in mathematics and basic accounting relationships; strong communication skills.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • None
Work Environment

The majority of duties are indoors; occasional guest carryout may require leaving the PCC. The role involves bending, kneeling, moving merchandise (up to 50 pounds), and standing for long periods. A flexible schedule including evenings and weekends may be required.
