Overview
The main function of the Civilian Investigator is to process Driving While Intoxicated misdemeanor cases for ALR hearings and to file said cases with the Nueces County District Attorney's Office for court hearings. Another function is to ensure blood kits are sent to the DPS Crime Lab for testing for the filing of cases. The major objective is to ensure that all cases filed are done so in a timely manner inclusive of all evidence that may be exculpatory, mitigating, or that may lead to impeachment.
Responsibilities- Review original DIC paperwork to ensure all DWI documents are received
- Communicate with Officers for missing paperwork or information needed for case file in a timely manner
- Submit copies of complete case files to DAO and DPS
- Process blood kits
- Maintain original case file with Officer's completed DIC paperwork
- Review, respond to, and submit emails
- Respond to calls from consumers and other law enforcement officials
- Maintain proficiency in all standard computerized systems
- Prepare original DWI paperwork for filing with Central Records
- Respond to open records request as necessary
- Communicate with ALR and DAO
- Maintain a professional relationship with DAO and ALR for requested information
- Process NMS and DPS laboratory reports as received
- Request prior DWI conviction history for case files
- Ensure supplemental information has been completed in the case file
- Ensure filed cases are complete with all pertinent information for DAO
- File cases weekly with supplying evidence to DAO
- May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
- Non Exempt – Full-Time
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

Qualifications- Associates Degree (AA/AS); or 2 year technical certificate
- Two (2) years of experience
- A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
