Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist

Duties

• Advise the Command Group on communication strategy, public issues, media engagement, and crisis communication, and serves as the installation’s official spokesperson.
• Develop and executes communication plans to inform employees, media, community leaders, and government officials on Corpus Christi missions, policies, programs, and emergency actions.
• Lead media relations and outreach by preparing speeches, news releases, articles, and other materials, while building effective relationships with media, civic leaders, and stakeholders.
• Oversee visual information services, including photography, graphics, video, television production, the depot newspaper, and other internal and external communication platforms.
• Supervise office personnel by assigning work, evaluating performance, developing staff, and ensuring compliance with EEO, safety, security, training, and workforce management requirements.

Conditions of employment

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position has been designated Mission Essential.
• This position requires a one-year probationary period to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
• The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in order to obtain and maintain a Government Driver’s License.
• This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure OGE Form 450 and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.

One year of specialized experience that demonstrates experience serving as the official spokesperson and primary contact for local and national media. Developing and implementing crisis communication plans. Leading strategic public affairs operations, orchestrating public information, community engagement, and multimedia dissemination across broadcast outlets, external press, depot workforce, and surrounding communities. Planning, developing, and disseminating news releases, articles and various other types of mass communication information to internal and external audiences.
