Title: Athletic Trainer

Company: Driscoll Children’s Hospital

Location: Corpus Christi, TX (school-based setting with clinic coverage as needed)

Schedule: Full time, Monday–Friday, 8-hour day shift (flexed for evening/weekend school district sports events)

Role Overview

As an Athletic Trainer at Driscoll Children’s Hospital, you will provide rehabilitative care to injured athletes and patients under the direction of a Sports Medicine physician. This is a school-based position with the opportunity to cover sporting events, while also serving as backup in our clinic setting.

You’ll educate athletes and families on injury prevention, rehabilitation, wellness, and safe return-to-play practices—while ensuring all care is delivered with compassion, professionalism, and adherence to the highest standards of patient safety and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide age-appropriate, evidence-based rehabilitative care for athletes and patients.
  • Support physicians in developing and implementing rehabilitation protocols.
  • Educate athletes, parents, and patients on injury prevention, recovery, and home exercise programs.
  • Maintain timely documentation, daily charges, and accurate patient records.
  • Assist with brace/crutch fitting and product education.
  • Cover school athletic events as scheduled, providing on-site support.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, infection control, and patient safety standards.
  • Serve as liaison between patients, families, physicians, and school staff.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years of related experience/training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Clinical Orthopedic experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with athletes across multiple sports preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT) Licensed by State of Texas required.
  • National Athletic Trainer Association (NATA) Board of Certification (BOC) preferred.
  • Current CPR certification (or obtained within 90 days of hire).
