Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities is your place.

The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.

General Description

Under the general supervision of a registered nurse, is responsible for performing moderately complex medical aide work. Assist nurses in obtaining reports and records from medical records. Performs nursing functions as appropriate. Assist medical staff in performing procedures. Performs related work as assigned and trained.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience in health care work. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred. (GED) Experience and education may be substituted for one another. Attended a school and completion for Medical Assistant Tech school and met all required hours of on-the-job training.

Valid CMA License

Driver's License required, with good driving record

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • In the course of being employed, understands and implements trauma informed care practices
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of patient care. Skill in the use of equipment used in patient care. Ability to plan, evaluate, and provide patient care.
