Senior Product Manager – Mainframe Software Development Tools
We are seeking an exceptional Senior Product Manager to lead our portfolio of mainframe software development tools. In this strategic role, you will drive product vision, strategy, and execution, serving as the key link between customer needs and technical implementation. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of mainframe software development amid ongoing modernization initiatives.
How you will contribute to BMC's and your own success:
- Develop and execute a compelling product vision and roadmap aligned with corporate goals and market demands.
- Translate complex technical requirements into clear product specifications and user stories.
- Conduct market research to identify emerging trends and competitive opportunities.
- Partner with engineering to define, prioritize, and refine product requirements.
- Leverage Dev Ops expertise to enhance product capabilities and streamline workflows.
- Analyze product performance metrics for continuous improvement.
- Spearhead go-to-market strategies with marketing and sales teams.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships to inform product decisions.
What you will bring to the role:
- 8+ years of product management experience with success in mainframe software development tools.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; MBA preferred.
- Professional certification in Product Management is a plus.
- Proven success in product launches and growth.
- Deep technical knowledge of mainframe environments (z/OS) and languages including COBOL, PL/I, HLASM, CICS, DB2, z/OS Unix (USS), zLinux, and Java.
- Strong understanding of modern software development practices, SDLC, and Dev Ops.
- Experience with AI-augmented developer tools and mainframe workflows.
- Proficiency in Agile methodologies and product management best practices.
- Experience with user research and UX principles.
- Data-driven decision-making skills with strong analytical capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate with globally distributed teams.
- Flexibility to work North American hours and coordinate with teams in India.

We do not ask for payment from applicants. Our salary range for this position is estimated at $111,525 to $185,875, based on skills, experience, certifications, and organizational needs. Compensation includes other rewards such as variable plans and country-specific benefits. Typically, hires are made below the top of the range, considering various factors.
