Education/ Certification:

• Preferred:
  High School graduate or equivalent

Special Knowledge/ Skills Required:

• Good communicating and reasoning skills.
• Preferred:
  Texas operator's or class C driver's license and be insurable by the District.

Experience Required:

• One (1) year experience in cleaning methods and procedures, maintenance repairs, security, and plant operation.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrate supervisory ability.
• Demonstrate a willingness to work overtime if necessary to ensure that extra-curricular and school rental requirements are satisfied and in the event emergency situations arise.
• Demonstrate willingness to work flexible hours when needed.
• Ability to communicate with the Principal and school staff so the necessary support requirements for educational programs may be provided.
• Ability to communicate with persons at all levels in the school community.
• Ability to communicate, delegate and work with co-workers in a cooperative manner.
• Ability and willingness to work any shift.

Function

Under the daily supervision of the principal, and the general supervision of Maintenance, is responsible for the general operation of the school plant, ensuring that standard s of cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and security are met. Also, responsible for carrying out administrative tasks required to maintain and operate the plant to the required standards.

Day Head Custodian

Reponsibilities:

• Conform to all Board Policies and Procedures, Administrative directives, and Departmental Rules and Regulations.
• Ensure all Board Policies and Procedures, Administrative Directives and Departmental Rules and Regulations are adhered to by all custodial staff.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the building and grounds in all respects.
• Assist the Day Head Custodian in communication with Campus Coordinator regarding custodial maintenance activities so not to interfere with any curricular and extracurricular activities during scheduled duty hours. Make the school and its facilities available as instructed.
• Cooperate with staff and students to harmoniously achieve the purposes of the schools.
• Operate the heating ventilation and air conditioning systems.
• Perform minor maintenance.
• Advise the Principal 1
  
  Custodial Foreman and the Day Head Custodian at all times of repair1 maintenance and building safety issues.
• Direct assigned custodial staff in the performance of duties.
• Fulfill the Day Head Custodian position on a temporary basis as needed.
• Provide supplementary on the job training required to prepare facility for a clean and safe learning environment.
• Carry out preventive maintenance as directed.
• Work in cooperation with the Day Head Custodian to assist the Custodial Foreman in implementing custodial work schedules.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Lifting (heavy, 45 lbs. or over), carrying (heavy. 45 lbs., or over), stooping, walking, climbing (stairs, ladders, scaffold. ramps), balancing, crouching, kneeling, pulling, crawling, working in confined areas, pushing, reaching, repetitive hand motions, visual acuity, driving (car, truck, bus).
• Outside temperature extremes, noises, vibrating, slippery surfaces, sunlight, works around moving objects, kneeling, chemical exposure (asbestos, fumes, vapors, gases, dusts. smoke. etc.). Inside humidity extremes, low or intense illumination, microwaves, uneven surfaces, works with hands in water, works around machinery with moving parts, works alone, prolonged, or irregular hours, biological exposure (Insects, mold, fungi, bacteria, animals, plants, etc.)
