Registered Nurse - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Job Description
This position requires a skilled Registered Nurse to provide specialized care to neonates in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The RN will be responsible for patient assessment, treatment, and care coordination, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care to neonates requiring intensive care, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and performing treatments.
- Manage ventilators, oscillators, and Vapotherm devices for patients requiring respiratory support.
- Assist with procedures such as intubations, eye exams, and feeding tube insertions.
- Administer IV insertions and manage intravenous therapies.
- Accurately document patient care using electronic medical record systems.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans.
- Educate and support families on infant care and treatment plans.
- Ensure adherence to unit policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Night Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Required Qualifications- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Experience with 23-40+ week gestation infants.
- Experience with CPN charting.
- CPR
- NRP
- Ventilator experience required.
- Proficient in managing ventilators, oscillators, and Vapotherm.
- Skilled in assisting with intubations.
- Competent in performing eye exams and feeding tube insertions.
- Experienced in IV insertions.
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Meditech
- Neonates requiring intensive care.
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) - Level II
- Newborn Nursery
- Floating to Level II NICU and Newborn Nursery may be required.
- No on-call duties.
- Requires availability to work 3-4 weekends per month.
