Job Description
The competent Nurse in a perinatal setting practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. The position involves providing routine and complex care, while continuously developing the skills necessary to manage clinical contingencies. The Nurse will make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers to effectively manage clinical situations.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
- Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice.
- Administer medications and treatments according to protocols, monitoring for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identify issues and resources.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred.
- 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
- Current RN License in the state of Texas or compact.
- Current certification required from one of the following: AWHONN Intermediate FHM, or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM).
- Current NRP certification required.
- Current ACLS certification required (AHA only).
- Current BLS certification required (AHA only).
