American Traveler is hiring a Travel RN for an Emergency Department position requiring Level II/III trauma experience and TNCC, ENPC or PALS certification.

Requirements
  • Active RN license (Texas or Compact) currently in hand
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Emergency Department experience required
  • Level II or Level III trauma experience required
  • Required certifications: TNCC, ENPC or PALS, ACLS, BLS, and CPI
  • CEN, TCRN certifications preferred
  • Greater than 2 years of ED experience preferred
  • Skilled in assessments, documentation, medication administration, wound care, splinting, IV insertion, urine collection, and lab draws
  • No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Responsibilities
  • Work in a 16-bed Emergency Department with 8 hall chairs
  • Unit is transitioning from a Level IV to a Level II trauma center
  • Staffing includes charge nurse, triage nurse, 4-5 staff nurses, unit secretary, and 1-2 techs per shift
  • Patient ratio of 1:4 with low acuity ESI 4 & 5 patients, may take up to 6
  • Care provided for patients across ESI 1 through 5, including Stroke, STEMI, Sepsis and Trauma cases
  • Uses Cardiac Monitors, Baxter IV pumps, HP monitors, and Tonopen equipment
  • Charts in Meditech EMR with vital signs flowing directly into the chart
  • Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • 13-week assignment length
  • Perform patient assessments, documentation, medication administration, wound care, splinting, IV insertion, urine collection, and lab draws
  • Provide timely care for Stroke, STEMI, Sepsis and Trauma patients
  • Mandatory shift huddle attendance at 7am and 7pm unless providing critical patient care
  • Mandatory EMTALA training required
  • Dress code includes Royal Blue scrubs preferred, with team jersey attire encouraged on Sundays for seasonal team spirit
  • Compassion, urgency, and teamwork are emphasized as core values on this unit
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates will not be considered
