Essential Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrate the Company Mission Statement and Core Values daily.Adhere to the uniform standards outlined in the Employee Manual.Greet guests with a welcoming demeanor, using the Guest Services script applicable to the division. Offer the 5% discount, request the Specs Key, call guests by name when possible, propose additional items, encourage charitable donations, and thank guests for their business.Operate the cash register or electronic scanner, locate products, enter UPC codes, and confirm correct pricing by scanning the correct barcode.Maintain and use computers, registers, and scanner equipment properly.Suggestively sell items, including the charity of the month, to guests at the register.Verify merchandise brought to the register by stockers to ensure accurate charges.Redeem coupons and weigh produce items when required.Prompt guests to read and answer the pin pad question before starting the transaction; never answer on their behalf.Check acceptable identification, use 36 Sign‑In, and ensure legal sales.Accept cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, or gift cards.Issue receipts and provide correct change.Bag or box merchandise appropriately, using double bags only when requested for multiple bottle orders, and use bottle protectors only when necessary.Assist with carry‑outs when needed.Record totals of all transactions on the daily record sheet.Request a cash drop once the limit is reached and maintain proper till balance.Keep the work area clean, tidy, and not overstocked.Close the drawer at end of shift and prepare final drop.Answer guest questions and provide information.Resolve guest complaints courteously and respectfully.Avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present.Avoid using a personal cell phone on the sales floor.Stock shelves and check price tags as needed.Ensure checkout station has necessary tools such as register paper and paper bags.Prepare assigned areas for inventory and assist during the inventory process.Follow management directives efficiently.Perform all tasks with care, attention, teamwork, and cooperation.Use time‑management skills and prioritize tasks effectively.Manage stress in a fast‑paced environment.Stand, bend, walk, and handle items regularly; move up to 25 pounds routinely and up to 50 pounds occasionally, using proper lifting techniques. Push or pull 50‑100 pounds occasionally.Work in accordance with all safety regulations of Specs Family Partners and OSHA.Complete other projects and tasks as assigned by management.Perform restroom cleaning duties as needed.Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; prior cashiering or retail experience preferred.
- Strong communication skills, including phone etiquette.
- Basic math skills for cash transactions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages).
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions or memos.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
- Friendly, helpful, patient, and outgoing personality.
- Self‑starter with strong work ethic and ability to complete tasks promptly.
- Valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit;
Food Handlers Permit when required. - Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 pounds routinely and up to 50 pounds occasionally, push/pull up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Hours
Full‑time: typically 35 hours per week. Part‑time: up to 25 hours per week. Must be able to work any shift on Friday or Saturday and be available 80% or more of all shifts each week. Out‑of‑time work without District Manager approval is prohibited.
Certificates and Licenses
- Valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit.
- Food Handlers Permit in applicable locations.
Physical Demands
The role requires regular standing, walking, bending, and use of arms, hands, and fingers to feel, handle, reach, and lift. Employees must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds routinely and up to 50 pounds occasionally, and push or pull 50‑100 pounds occasionally. Proper lifting techniques and tools should be used. Vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
