Tech Sales Rep

The Route Sales position sells products for a manufacturer or distributor to business and industrial establishments or individuals. This outside‑sales position’s primary duty is to obtain orders or contracts for products or services; employees are customarily and regularly engaged away from GCS’ place of business.

• Develop and implement a plan in conjunction with the Branch Manager to call on all customers—existing and new—in a defined geographic territory.
• Generate an effective route schedule.
• Drive the determined route and perform delivery and pickup service.
• Work closely with the Technical Sales Representative to support customer needs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.

• Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university, or one to three years’ experience in outside sales with industrial engine accessory equipment. Electrical or mechanical background is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
• Moderate computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Familiar with web navigation and experience working with databases.
