About the RoleThe ADAR proactively provides in‑person or virtual education to accounts on access and reimbursement topics, supporting product strategy across a variety of healthcare settings including centralized and decentralized systems, academic medical institutions, large multi‑provider practices, and alternate sites of care. The ADAR functions as the patient access and reimbursement lead in B2B conversations with account executives, managing the pull‑through of strategy and downstream operations within aligned accounts.
Key Responsibilities- Interact with complex accounts to support patient access to aligned therapeutic area product(s), delivering face‑to‑face education on programs to providers and staff.
- Collaborate with key members of therapeutic area offices—executives, providers, administrators, billing and coding staff, claims departments, and revenue cycle managers—to facilitate patient access.
- Analyze problems, offer solutions, and provide reimbursement support at the provider level, including third‑party payer issues.
- Support pull‑through of local coverage decisions and proactively communicate policy changes that may impact other departments.
- Maintain expertise in regional and local access landscapes, anticipating changes in the healthcare environment.
- Interface with the Patient Support Center and Access & Reimbursement Managers for case management, issue resolution, and reimbursement support.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional associates to share insights on customer needs and barriers related to access and reimbursement.
- Educate HCPs on acquisition pathways, including buy‑and‑bill processes, facility pull‑through, and alternative channels such as white bagging, clear bagging, brown bagging, and alternate site of care.
- Assess access situations within the assigned geography and develop appropriate Plans of Action (POA).
- Educate HCPs on buy‑and‑bill end‑to‑end processes and logistics related to ordering, payment, inventory, and product returns.
- Analyze reimbursement issues, anticipating changes in the healthcare landscape, and serve as the designated reimbursement expert.
- Engage with non‑prescribers, including pharmacy, system leadership, financial counselors, office administrators, and revenue cycle managers.
- Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry focused on patient services, market access, sales, or account management.
- At least 2 years in a patient services practice support role for a specialty product.
- Experience working with highly complex practices and/or health systems to establish access and acquisition pathways.
- Strategic account management experience with a proactive approach to anticipate access hurdles.
- Deep expertise in integrating manufacturer‑sponsored patient support programs.
- Experience with specialty products acquired through specialty pharmacy networks.
- Knowledge of reimbursement pathways (specialty pharmacy, buy‑and‑bill, retail).
- Residency within the territory or within 60 miles of the territory border; 60‑80% travel required, with valid driver’s license.
The salary range for this position is expected to be between $160,300 and $297,700 per year, depending on relevant skills and experience. Compensation may include performance‑based cash incentive and eligibility for annual equity awards, and will be reviewed periodically.
