Primary Responsibilities and Key Deliverables

  • Respond promptly to spill incidents, ensuring containment and cleanup in accordance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct initial assessments of spill sites to determine the extent and type of spill, and develop appropriate response strategies.
  • Operate and maintain spill response equipment, including booms, skimmers, pumps, and absorbents.
  • Coordinate with other team members and external agencies to manage spill response efforts effectively.
  • Document spill incidents, response actions, and cleanup progress, maintaining accurate records for reporting and compliance purposes.
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance of spill response equipment to ensure readiness.
  • Participate in spill response drills and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and emergency procedures.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of spill response plans and procedures.
  • Ensure proper disposal of contaminated materials in accordance with environmental regulations.
  • Provide support for other environmental and safety initiatives as needed.
Required Skills and Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of spill response techniques and equipment.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions in emergency situations.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and report issues.
  • Physical stamina and strength to handle the demands of the job, including lifting and moving heavy objects.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records and logs.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and safety protocols related to spill response.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with hazardous materials handling and disposal procedures.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid TWIC Card.
  • Certification in hazardous materials handling or spill response preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in spill response or a related field.
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
  • Experience with industrial equipment and environmental compliance is a plus.
Work Environment

Tools, equipment, machinery used:
Hydroblasting, Vacuum Truck, and Tank cleaning equipment.

Working Conditions
  • Will be exposed to all weather conditions.
  • Work on various structures and surfaces both at ground and elevated levels up to and possibly exceeding 150 ft.
  • Work in confined spaces.
  • Work a 12‑hour shift with 30‑minute lunch breaks.
  • If requested, work overtime, and respond to emergency callouts whenever they occur.
  • Work days, nights, and weekends.
  • Travel to customer and other Miller sites as needed.
Physical Effort Required
  • Handling tools, materials, and equipment weighing up to 150 lbs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, crawl, bend, squat, and kneel.
  • Must be capable of climbing towers/vessels/tanks.
