Salary Range: $18.00 - $20.00 Hourly

Scope:
Thorough cleaning of coils, drains, and HVAC elements. Inspecting connections, motor operations, and thermostat functionality. Monitoring refrigerant pressure. Knowledge of various chemical, tools, and machine operation usage.

Responsibilities
  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair 5- and 10-ton air conditioner units.
  • Service minor and major repairs or preventative maintenance on all types of HVAC equipment to ensure proper working condition and able to diagnose equipment problems.
  • Ventilate equipment and controls making sure they operate efficiently and continuously.
  • Receive, inspect and stock required inventory ensure proper repairs.
  • Make adjustment and set calibrations of thermostatic controls.
  • Clean blowers and coils, check tensions of belts and motors.
  • Produce plans and designs of new air-conditioning systems including their installation and maintenance.
  • Keep tools and equipment cleaned and in working condition.
  • Keep area clean and put tools, equipment, solvents in their proper area.
  • Collaborate with other departments to assist in numerous projects around the ship when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Maintenance and Director of Operations/Exhibits.
Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in the environment is moderate, and may be exposed to chemical agents, plumbing supplies and fumes.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is continuously required to sit; use continuous hand, arm and finger manipulation while performing the daily job function; continuously walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and standing/walking on steel railways requiring balance.

Environment requires climbing steep stairwells, so comfortable clothing and shoes with non-skid soles are recommended. The employee is frequently required to lift up to 25-50 pounds. The vision requirements include: clear concise, close/distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Qualifications
  • Age &

    Education:

    Must be 18+ with a high school diploma or GED.
  • EPA Certification:
    Universal EPA Section 608 certification is required by federal law to handle refrigerants; or must be in the process of completing certification.
  • Minimum Experience - 1 year direct experience
  • Driver's License: A valid Texas driver's license
