Recruitment Number 209019 - Oahu Community Correctional Center - Kalihi, Oahu Employment Only - $3,080 per month effective March 1, 2009

Duties Summary

Perform routine manual and semi-skilled tasks and assist a building maintenance worker or a skilled building tradesperson in building maintenance and repair work relevant to the carpentry, plumbing, painting, and electrical trades; and perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet all the requirements for the position they are seeking as of the date of the application, unless otherwise specified. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. Your possession of the required amount of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for the position. Overall paid or unpaid experience must be of such scope and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that you have the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Note:

Your calculation of experience must be based on full-time, 40-hour work weeks. Part-time experience must be pro-rated. Example:
Twelve months of experience at 20 hours/week is equivalent to six months of experience, not one year. Also, hours worked in excess of 40 hours/week will not be credited. Example:
Twelve months of experience at 60 hours/week is equivalent to one year of experience, not one and a half years.

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements

Experience and Training

Two years of work experience in performing a variety of building maintenance repair work or its equivalent combination of experience and training.

Physical Profile

Applicants must be physically able to perform, efficiently and effectively, the essential duties of this position. Typical physical tasks include: reading blueprints and specifications; reading measurements on tape ruler; visually inspecting exteriors of buildings for deficiencies; matching color‑coded electrical wires; mixing to match touch‑up paint; listening to detect problems in electric motors or equipment; making electrical connections; repairing or replacing leaky faucets;

soldering copper pipes; hammering nails; sanding and painting walls and ceilings; repairing pipes under house; digging holes and mixing cement; climbing up ladders with gear; lifting lumber and heavy timber; lifting bags of cement; cracking concrete using a sledge hammer; loosening pipe fittings; crawling through ceiling to do repairs; standing on planks to paint buildings; performing repairs and inspections of buildings;

digging trenches to repair and repalce water lines; and building tile walls.

License

Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license.
