Concrete Reinforcement Installer

The Rodbuster (Concrete Reinforcement Installer) is responsible for installing, positioning, securing, and inspecting reinforcing materials used in cast-in-place concrete construction. This includes traditional reinforcing steel (rebar), welded wire reinforcement, reinforcement accessories, and supporting the placement of fiber-reinforced concrete systems as specified by project drawings, engineering requirements, and applicable codes. The Rodbuster works closely with Form Builders, Concrete Finishers, and Quality personnel to ensure reinforced concrete structures are constructed safely and in accordance with project specifications.

Essential Functions

• Read and interpret structural drawings, reinforcement details, bar schedules, and project specifications.
• Measure, cut, bend (when required), position, and tie reinforcing steel for foundations, footings, slabs, walls, columns, beams, equipment pads, and other concrete structures.
• Install welded wire reinforcement, dowels, couplers, mechanical splices, anchor bolts, embeds, chairs, spacers, bolsters, and other reinforcement accessories.
• Verify proper reinforcement spacing, concrete cover, lap splices, and placement tolerances prior to concrete placement.
• Assist with the preparation and placement of fiber-reinforced concrete systems by verifying specified fiber type, dosage, distribution requirements, and placement procedures in accordance with project specifications.
• Coordinate with Form Builders, Survey, Concrete crews, and Quality Control personnel to ensure reinforcement is installed prior to concrete placement.
• Inspect reinforcement installations for compliance with engineering drawings, project specifications, and applicable codes.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, rebar cutters, benders, tying tools, and material handling equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all company safety policies and procedures.
• Report damaged materials, drawing discrepancies, or quality concerns to supervision.
• Participate in pre-task planning, toolbox meetings, and quality inspections.
• Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company's safety culture
• Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

Education and Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Experience installing reinforcing steel on commercial, industrial, heavy civil, or mission-critical construction projects.
• OSHA
  10 or OSHA
  30 preferred

Skills / Key Competencies

• Ability to read construction drawings and reinforcement placement details.
• Knowledge of reinforcing steel installation methods, concrete placement practices, and reinforcement accessories.
• Familiarity with fiber-reinforced concrete applications and installation requirements is preferred.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, climbing, kneeling, and working in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to work safely at heights, in excavations, and around heavy equipment
• Ability to work effectively as part of a construction team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
• Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
• Ability to operate job related tools
• Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
• Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
• Ability to frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions
