Overview
The Wapato Secure Treatment Program will provide evidence‑based interventions that address a variety of crime‑related factors, such as drug and alcohol abuse. Length of treatment will be between 30‑180 days, and offenders will be engaged in treatment for approximately 80 hours per week. The program is licensed by the State Office of Addiction and Mental Health Services to operate as a Level III and III.
5 residential treatment program.
- Provide clinical leadership and direction to the secure residential treatment program, including alcohol and other drug treatment and cognitive behavioral interventions.
- Support staff and clients through modeling effective treatment skills and facilitating group interactions.
- Develop, monitor, and guide policies and procedures for the program.
- Recruit, hire, coach, and mentor clinical and treatment staff.
- Address performance management and disciplinary issues.
- Develop training resources for clinical staff.
- Provide quality assurance to referral sources and clients.
- Work closely with research and evaluation staff to track outcomes and use data for continuous quality assurance.
- Maintain exceptional interpersonal skills when working with a diverse workforce, the community, other agencies, and offenders/clients.
- Understand the dynamics and cycles of addiction, violence, mental illness, and sexual offenses, ensuring staff implement proper interventions and sanctions.
- Maintain focus on the bigger picture while organizing current assignments amid competing priorities.
- Supervise and evaluate staff, recognize good performance, correct deficient performance, and implement discipline procedures in line with labor agreements.
- Six years of paid full‑time supervisory or lead experience in alcohol and other drug treatment; OR four years of paid full‑time supervisory or lead experience (post bachelor’s) in social services with a minimum of two years of direct alcohol and other drug treatment experience; OR three years of paid full‑time supervisory and lead experience (post master’s) in social services with a minimum of two years of direct alcohol and other drug treatment experience.
- Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with major coursework in psychology, social work, criminal justice, or a related field; a master’s in counseling, social work, education, or a related field is desirable.
- Preferred knowledge of cognitive‑behavioral and social learning modalities for treating addiction and criminality.
- Required certifications:
Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor 2 (CADC
2) or Qualified Mental Health Professional (QHMP) and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor 1 (CADC
1). - Desirable certification:
Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST). - United States citizenship. Ability to pass a physical examination and psychological evaluation, and to exercise powers of arrest.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Pass a security clearance and complete a thorough background investigation.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including swing, graveyard, evenings, weekends, and respond to urgent situations outside normal work schedule.
