Lowboy Flatbed Truck Driver

JOB SUMMARY

The Lowboy Flatbed Truck Driver operates a flatbed trailer equipped to transport construction equipment to and from the job sites. Requires a commercial drivers’ license.

• Check vehicle to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
• Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods.
• Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations
• Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers
• Inspect loads to ensure that cargo is secure
• Perform daily maintenance and safety checks
• Generate and maintain accurate job aid for duties assigned
• Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture
• Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

• High School Diploma or GED required
• At least 3 years over the road
• Able to pass a DOT physical
• Valid Class A driver’s license
• Good driving record

• Working knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of highways, roads, sewers, and bridges
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information
• Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities
• Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results oriented
• Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines
• Ability to work non-routine hours, when necessary
• Ability and willingness to travel as required

• Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
• Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
• Ability to operate job related tools
• Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
• Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
