The purpose of this position is to provide exceptional customer service and the efficient, timely and accurate distribution of material to the College’s campuses to support the College’s operations. Responsibilities include delivering material to various campus departments, scanning and tracking deliveries, providing distribution services for the College’s mail, conducting routine maintenance of equipment, and maintaining warehouse facilities.
Minimum Qualifications- One (1) year of related experience.
- Valid Texas Driver License with ability to be insurable by Del Mar College.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance.
- Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
- Ability to move, lift and carry materials, equipment and furniture up to 100 pounds, load and unload cargo, climb ladders, service vehicles and perform warehouse maintenance.
- Mechanical aptitude and use of hand tools for assembly of furniture and equipment.
- Ability to display tact and courtesy, establish and maintain relationships, adapt to changing priorities, meet deadlines, set priorities, work in an environment with frequent interruptions, and communicate effectively.
- Basic math skills; read and follow written and oral instructions.
- Skills to operate equipment used in warehouse functions and motor vehicles.
- Ability to read and interpret documents, maintain custody of packages, parcels, mail and materials during transit, correctly process delivery tickets and other documents.
- Represent the College in a professional manner and assist faculty and staff with their interactions with the Purchasing department.
- Process and handle materials by loading them into vehicles.
- Scan and track materials delivered.
- Deliver material to the appropriate location and move furniture and equipment as scheduled.
- Read work orders and follow oral instructions to ascertain material to be moved; operate delivery trucks, forklift, and hand trucks.
- Pick up and deliver mail at the local post office; deliver and pick up mail from designated locations on campuses and deliver bulk mail to the main post office as needed.
- Conduct routine maintenance of equipment by monitoring air pressure in tires, fluid levels, etc., on a weekly basis.
- Wash and wax vehicles.
- Maintain vehicle maintenance logs by recording all service orders completed on departmental vehicles.
- Maintain a safe, organized and clean work area in the warehouse and at delivery locations.
- Assist the Warehouse Supervisor by performing shipping and receiving duties as needed.
