Required:
Ability to pass required annual physical, criminal record check, a drug screen and random drug testing. Possess a neat and professional appearance and come to work on time, in complete and clean assigned uniform. Is an excellent communicator both verbal and written and is capable of handling typical and crisis situations both effectively and efficiently on a school bus. Understands and successfully executes his/her duties as required by CCISD Board Policies and Transportation policies and procedures.
Provides quality customer service to students, parents, administrators, and faculty members. Ability to accurately identify emergencies and provide appropriate responses. Ability to perform first aid and CPR, if required. Ability to operate special equipment, if required. Ability to properly manage student behavior on a school bus. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Ability to consistently maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality standards.
Function Under the direct supervision of the supervisor of Regular Education Operations, the Safety Monitor will assist in providing safe transportation for students attending the Student Learning and Guidance Center (SLGC) and other campuses as directed.
Responsibilities:
- Ride a school bus daily and serve as a general security presence and visible deterrent to infractions of school bus rules, procedures, and practices
- Report all incidents, accidents, medical emergencies and any other issues that affect the safety of students riding a school bus
- Follow the operational rules and guidelines of the Office of Transportation Safely and per established schedule, assist in transportation of students and student discipline
- During emergency conditions, evacuate students to a safe location
- Write clear and concise reports concerning violation of rules and procedures and other activities that may apply while riding a school bus
- Obey all rules, laws, policies and procedures regarding the safe operation of a school bus
- Assist in the performance of a school bus pre-check and post-check
- Successfully complete all training requirements for a Safety Monitor as prescribed by the Office of Transportation
- Attend all required meetings as directed by Supervisor, Administrative Officer, or Director of Transportation
- Perform other job related duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Administrative Officer, or Director of Transportation

Salary: AUX/603: $13.95 minimum/hour (individual salary calculation is based on applicable experience)
