This is a Labor Intensive position which requires a drug and physical exam for employment.

This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill full-time, temporary assignments on an as‑needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview. AN APPLICATION IS VALID FOR ONE YEAR, AT WHICH TIME APPLICANTS WISHING TO REMAIN IN THE POOL MUST REAPPLY AND UPDATE THEIR INFORMATION.

Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary The ability to teach safe procedures for operating commercial vehicles to entry level and experience drivers in accordance to State, Federal and Local Regulations for Commercial Vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Three (3) years verifiable Truck Driver experience utilizing a Class A Commercial Driver’s License ( CDL ).
• Ability to work flexible hours.
• Valid Texas Class A CDL with ability to be insurable by Del Mar College.
• No more than three (3) moving violations on driving record in the past three (3) years.
• Comply with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration ( FMCSA ) medical requirements by possessing a current DOT physical medical card.
• Must have, OR will obtain, Passengers and School Bus endorsements within six (6) months of employment and keep the certification current.
• Must be willing to obtain a TPST Examiner Certification within six (6) months of employment and keep the certification current.
• Must have a satisfactory Texas DPS Abstract Driving Record.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Knowledge of the Federal and State rules and regulations pertaining to commercial drivers.
• Effective communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
• Must maintain a current DOT physical medical card.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience as a driver trainer.
