Overview

Inventory control, material handling, warehousing, and related duties in a storehouse environment. The role requires operating material handling equipment, maintaining inventory accuracy, and complying with safety procedures. Some local travel and relocation considerations may apply in the territory.

Responsibilities
  • Issue material under proper authorization; process and file required records; pick up, haul and deliver materials; operate Company automotive equipment such as cars and trucks.
  • Check received material for quantity; visually inspect identity, condition, and packaging; initiate material receipt and related records.
  • Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.
  • Identify, sort and record material returned; place usable material in stock; sort non-usable material into scrap containers; record applicable information and process related records.
  • Operate computer terminals and printers supporting a materials management system, and other office equipment such as calculators and scanners.
  • Prepare and pack material for shipment or storage, including preparation of required shipping papers and related records, including hazardous material with proper procedures.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as hand trucks, forklift trucks, low lift trucks, hoists, overhead cranes, order pickers, or other required equipment.
  • Assist supervisor with maintaining efficient storage of materials, rearrangement or change of bins and racks, and making material location changes.
  • Assist in maintaining adequate inventory levels based on current requirements through inventory cycle counts; perform discrepancy adjustments with appropriate approvals and process related records.
  • Assist employees of equal or higher classification.
  • Perform similar or less skilled work.
  • Perform duties in accordance with Company safety rules, operating regulations, and practices.
  • Qualifications
    • Education:

      High School Diploma or GED.
    • Experience:

      At least one year in inventory control/management, material handling, warehousing, or related field.
    • Software:
      Basic computer skills; experience with inventory management software (e.g., Maximo);
      Microsoft Excel and Word preferred.
    • Logistics:
      Strong working knowledge of shipping and relocation logistics; ability to perform basic math; basic reporting and recordkeeping abilities.
    • Independence and communication:
      Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
    • Physical requirements:

      Ability to safely lift up to 70 pounds; successful completion of Physical Ability Test (PAT) required.
    • Licenses:
      Possess appropriate State driver's license; CDL may be required in some cases and must be obtained within six months if applicable.
    • Equipment:
      Ability to operate material handling equipment including motorized forklifts and road vehicles.
    • Additional:
      Experience with Inventory Management and Microsoft Office (Excel/Word); willingness to learn other programs.
    • Other:
      Construction or heavy equipment operation experience is helpful; safety-minded with a focus on zero-harm.

    DRESS CODE & PPE:
    Steel toe boots required. Jeans (long pants) and a T-shirt are acceptable with no inappropriate words or pictures. All other PPE provided. Eye glasses may require side shields if worn. Local travel and client vehicle use may be required; MVR may be required.
