General Purpose of Job

Under the general supervision of the Supply Chain Operation Manager or Supply Tech Supervisor, the supply technician is responsible for receiving, delivery, shipping, storage, stocking, distribution of medical supplies, restocking of specialty carts, and disinfection, storage and distribution of patient care equipment used by departments, clinics and nursing units throughout the Facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain utmost confidentiality at all times.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and corporate compliance guidelines.
  • Report safety concerns regarding warehouse or equipment.
  • Review PAR levels for supplies and adjust according to department feedback; PAR level set to provide a minimum of three days of usage.
  • Process daily supply requisitions using the MMIS system.
  • Pick, pack, and deliver supplies to requesting departments.
  • Answer phone calls promptly and ensure timely customer service.
  • Put away freight and ensure shelves are well-stocked.
  • Break down boxes and keep work area free of trash.
  • Communicate with supervisor or buyer for low stock or critical items via the stock‑out process.
  • Restock assigned supply areas per schedule and record transactions in MMIS.
  • Monitor and rotate stock to prevent obsolescence and reduce spoilage.
  • Perform periodic cycle counts and annual physical inventory.
  • Follow infection control procedures when handling equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain clean, neat, and orderly supply rooms, storerooms, central supply, and receiving areas.
  • Meet delivery vehicles at the loading dock and assist in unloading supplies and equipment.
  • Verify quantity delivered against the freight bill and acknowledge receipt by signing the bill of lading.
  • Inspect delivered goods and report visible damage immediately to the driver and the buyer.
  • Open each box to verify contents, quantity, unit of measure, description, and order number against the packing slip.
  • Deliver inventory items to General Store and special orders directly to the department indicated on the purchase order.
  • Obtain a legible signature from the person receiving merchandise on the delivery ticket and leave a copy with the merchandise.
  • Return goods if no one is available to accept and sign.
  • Receive and tag capital equipment and notify the appropriate department (Bio Med, Plant Maintenance, Information Services).
  • Complete the Capital Equipment receiving form and forward it to the buyer.
  • Prepare return goods shipments and ship equipment to the vendor for credit or repair.
  • Maintain a log of all shipments by date, purchase order number, item description, and freight company.
  • Possess a valid Texas driver’s license and insurance to drive Company vehicles if needed.
  • Ensure all equipment in the centralized equipment room is connected to electrical sources.
  • Log equipment requiring repair and coordinate with Biomed or the manufacturer.
  • Maintain consignment inventory and accurate documentation for equipment issuance.
  • Ensure cleaning and sanitization of equipment per manufacturer or central supply guidelines.
  • Maintain par levels on clinical units for all designated equipment.
  • Check, exchange, and restock crash carts, disaster carts, and traction carts as needed.
  • Assist in obtaining supplies from the central supply distribution area and expense/issue inventory in MMIS.
  • Return rental equipment and coordinate vendor pickup, maintaining records.
Education and Experience

High School diploma or GED required. Additional certification from a college or technical school preferred. Minimum six months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.
