The Youth Development Professional (YDP) is a part‑time, hourly position working with our youth to provide hands‑on delivery of daily in‑house programming including social recreation, team building activities, and an overall environment to build positive relationships. This part‑time position is at our Boys & Girls Club location in Corsicana, TX.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONUnder the supervision of the Assistant Club Director, a YDP assists with the development and operation of our after‑school program, creates a welcoming and safe environment for members, and aligns new members to program areas, special events, and opportunities. The YDP supports assigned program areas by monitoring behavior, providing instruction, and engaging with members and parents.
The YDP develops and delivers the BGCD and BGCA suite of programs (game room, teen activities, arts and crafts, food program, low‑organized games, outdoor activities, special events, before‑school program, summer program, and group clubs).

- Assisting the Program Director in all phases of overall club operation

- Other duties assigned by the Club Director
- Building positive relationships with BGC staff, kids, parents, community stakeholders, visitors, and volunteers
- Deliver age‑appropriate programs and activities that reflect Boys & Girls Club’s five core program areas for children ages 6‑18.
- Help ensure safe implementation of all programs and activities, including condition of equipment and facilities, age‑appropriateness, ability levels, weather, and appropriate use of equipment and supplies.
- Orient new members to program area, special events, opportunities, and club safety, program, and disciplinary rules.
- Implement, monitor, and evaluate programs, services, and activities for members.
- Ensure program area is attractive, neat, clean, and bulletin boards and notices are current.
- Assume other tasks, assignments, and responsibilities as needed or directed.
- Maintain a positive Boys & Girls Club culture with high energy, strong teamwork, and effective collaboration with other staff.
- Promote daily learning center program participation and participation in special events.
- Maintain productive relationships with parents, school faculty, administrators, staff, and other visitors.
- Ensure a productive work environment by participating in club leader meetings.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 18+ years old.
- Must be able to pass a background check; over 18 to work with youth, over 21 to work with teens.
- At least one year of experience working with children.
- Combined experience and/or formal training equivalent to a minimum of 6 months where there is experience working with youth and knowledge of youth development.
- Formal training and/or experience teaching youth while creating engaging learning experiences.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
- Ability to de‑escalate problems when present and problem‑solve during day‑to‑day club activities.
