Summary/Objective

A Quality Supervisor leads the team responsible for ensuring products and services meet established standards of excellence. This position oversees the entire quality control process, guiding inspectors and implementing the methods used for product evaluation. They act as a central figure in maintaining the consistency and integrity of a company’s output. The Quality Supervisor helps to identify and resolve any issues that could compromise quality.

This collaborative role involves analyzing processes and implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and product reliability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement detailed quality control procedures, policies, and standards for production processes.
  • Direct and support a team of quality control inspectors, managing schedules, and providing ongoing training.
  • Document inspection outcomes, maintain accurate quality records, and prepare detailed reports for management.
  • Analyze quality data to identify trends, pinpoint recurring issues, and suggest areas for process improvement.
  • Manage the control of nonconforming products, ensuring they are properly identified, segregated, and dispositioned according to procedure.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews of the quality control processes to ensure adherence to internal and external regulations.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure that all incoming materials and components meet the required quality specifications.
  • Oversee the calibration and maintenance of all inspection and testing equipment to ensure measurement accuracy.

Supervisory Responsibility: Applicable

Work Environment
  • Mixture of office and well-lit manufacturing shop environment with exposure to extreme temperatures (hot and cold), dust, odors, fumes.
  • Noise level is moderate to loud.
Physical Demands
  • Frequently required to lift 10-80lbs, sit and/or stand for long periods of time, use close and far vision skills.
  • Occasionally required to walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Supplier Quality Assurance
  • This involves establishing and enforcing quality standards for all incoming materials from external suppliers.
  • The supervisor develops supplier audit programs and performance metrics to ensure the integrity of the supply chain and prevent substandard components from entering the production flow.
Regulatory Compliance Management
  • The supervisor interprets and applies complex industry‑specific standards, such as ISO 9001 or FDA regulations, to the quality management system.
  • This ensures that all processes, documentation, and products consistently meet legal and customer‑mandated requirements.
Team Leadership and Development
  • Beyond managing schedules, this skill involves actively mentoring and developing the technical capabilities of the quality control team.
  • The supervisor provides specialized training on new inspection techniques and analytical tools to elevate the team’s overall effectiveness and precision.

Required

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, business administration or quality management.
  • Statistical Analysis, quality control systems and process improvement methodologies field highly preferred.
  • 3-5 years experience in similar role. Prior leadership or supervisor experience.
  • Operations management, production techniques, and statistical process control, which are essential for overseeing quality standards and leading improvement initiatives within a manufacturing or service environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Ability to function in a high‑paced environment.
  • Group presentations.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish highly preferred.
