Job Summary
The Multicraft Technician III is responsible for safely completing a wide range of advanced multicraft tasks under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor/Maintenance Manager. The role requires proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and facility maintenance in a manufacturing setting. The technician performs preventative maintenance, repairs to electrical systems and mechanical equipment, and supports the production of high quality products with a focus on safety, quality, service, and cost.
EssentialDuties
- Maintain and develop work orders in MAXIMO Asset Management Software (CMMS).
- Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, participate actively in the safety program.
- Apply advanced lubrication, vibration analysis, infrared thermography, and ultrasound analysis to plant equipment.
- Control lube inventory levels, storage, and 5S standards.
- Create and prioritize corrective work orders based on inspections.
- Perform root‑cause failure analysis and lead RCA teams.
- Interpret mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and P&, sketches, plans, and layouts.
- Start up and shut down production equipment; maintain knowledge of each manufacturing segment.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in all work areas.
- Develop continuous improvement initiatives for equipment, operations, safety, and maintenance.
- Create and implement preventive and predictive maintenance procedures.
- Install, align, dismantle, repair, and maintain industrial machinery, mechanical equipment, electrical equipment, pneumatic systems, control devices, hydraulic equipment, circuits, components, instrumentation, and utility equipment.
- Install and repair mechanical drives, pumps, fans, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, belts, and couplings.
- Use advanced welding skills (oxy‑acetylene, MIG, TIG, arc welding). Test performance of repaired equipment and report results to operators.
- Adjust functional parts of equipment and control instruments.
- Perform daily preventative maintenance on equipment, facility, infrastructure, and utilities.
- Ensure safety devices on equipment are operational.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, including labor hours and critical findings.
- Use pipe‑fitting skills to weld, cut, fit, maintain, and install piping throughout the facility.
- Apply problem‑solving methods to identify root causes and eliminate failures.
- Understand HAZMAT, SDS, EPA, OSHA, NEC, and NFPA requirements.
- Attend operations meetings to catalog current maintenance issues.
- Execute periodic proactive asset strategies (maintenance routes, preventive maintenance).
- Utilize Allen Bradley Contro Logix
5000 software (view‑only) to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain instrument/electrical, control, and communication systems. - Use Allen Bradley Drive Tools software for VFDs.
- Promote development of Operator Interface software (Wonderware) for maintenance and reliability.
- Work proactively and take ownership of equipment/machine condition.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 5+ years of experience in an industrial maintenance manufacturing environment.
- Competent with personal computers, Google Apps, and MAXIMO/CMMS Asset Management Software.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, instrument, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic systems, controls, and utility equipment.
- Experience with AC/DC motor repair for single‑phase and three‑phase power.
- Proficient in use of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and utility system maintenance tools.
- Sound knowledge of instrument/electrical/control/communication principles.
- Ability to repair/replace instruments and electrical devices, fabricate metal, and weld (oxy‑acetylene, MIG, TIG, arc).
- Knowledge of pump & fan theory, repair, and replacement.
- Capability to use calipers, gauges, micrometers, and related measuring equipment.
- Comprehension and use of technical manuals.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, instrument, electrical, utilities, and control system architecture.
- Understanding of PLC controller functions and operator interface roles.
- Use of SPC charts, graphs, and data for increased reliability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
