Position Summary:
The District ELD Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the needs of ELL students in their identification, assessment, and English Language proficiency instruction. The coordinator will also serves the needs of students as the Homeless, Migrant, and Child Welfare Liaison. This position also supports Native American Indigenous students programming in Title VI by providing culturally-responsive academic support and activities for those students.
The coordinator also provides support in the following testing platforms; illuminate, mclass, Zearn, Lexia, TS Gold, ACCESS, CMAS, Enrich and Read Act.
Position Responsibilities:
Serve as a resource for administrative staff and classroom teachers by assisting in the
development of ELD English lesson planning and instruction.
Participate in RTI problem solving and IEP staffing when necessary and appropriate for
students with English proficiency needs in addition to their other needs.
Follow student identification, assessment, placement, monitoring, exiting and parental
notification criteria as determined by the district ELA Plan and ESSA.
Assist the District Assessment Coordinator with the annual ACCESS Proficiency exam
as needed or directed.
Oversee and/or administer the WIDA Screener placement assessment as required
throughout the school year to any new-to-district student and other designated students
whose Home Language Survey indicates a second language influence.
Developed and maintain language student records including assisting with writing of
ELL plans.
Disseminate assessment information to classroom, secretarial, and administrative staff.
Provide Home Language Surveys to schools in the languages needed for parents as
available.
Screen Home Language Surveys to assist in properly identifying students who have or
may have a second language influence.
Assist the building staff and principal as designated by the building principal and the
Director of Curriculum and Instruction with regards to English Language Acquisition and
programing.
Facilitate/attend meetings of the district English Language Acquisition Committee for
annual review of the ELA Plan and its effectiveness as well as making proposed changes
to the plan as a result of increasing its effectiveness.
Be an effective organizer/planner.
Participate in staff in-services and conferences.
Homeless Liaison/Coordinator Responsibilities:
* Students enroll in and have full and equal opportunity to succeed in school.
* Students are automatically eligible for free school meals.
* Students are identified by school personnel through outreach and coordination with other entities and agencies.
* School personnel receive professional development and other support. Children, youth and families have access to and receive educational services for which they are eligible, including Head Start, early intervention (IDEA Part
C) and other preschool programs.
* Children, youth and families receive referrals to health care, dental, mental health, substance abuse, housing and other services.
Migrant Liaison/Coordinator Responsibilities:
* Train secretaries and registrars in the registration of migrant families.
* Communicate with the regional Migrant Educational Recruiter anytime families complete the Migrant survey in order to receive supplemental, education and support services to children of migratory workers in agriculture, dairy, logging and fishery.
Child Welfare Liaison Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with child placement agencies, county departments, the state department, and schools to ensure proper school placement, transfer and enrollment of foster children.
