Position Summary

The department is establishing a pool of applicants to fill potential part-time temporary teaching positions.

Major Responsibilities

A classroom based 3 credit hour course pays $4500 per class. The department typically hires for the courses/subject areas listed below but this list is not all inclusive. Other courses/subject areas may become available within the department.

LIT 527 - Comprehension Instruction and Assessment

LIT 528 - Literacy Foundations

LIT 535 - Writing Instruction and Assessment

LIT 449 - Literacy in the Middle and Secondary School (cross-listed with LIT 549)

LIT 549 - Literacy in the Middle and Secondary School

LIT 560 - Children's and Young Adult Literature in the Curriculum

LIT 590 - Teaching and Learning Literacy in the Digital Age

LIT 630 - Literacy and Society

LIT 669 - The Literacy Specialist and The Literacy Program

LIT 690 - Assessment for the Specialized Literacy Professional

LIT 693 - Applied Assessment and Instruction:

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in Literacy/Reading Education or related field.

Competency with technological tools

Preferred Qualifications

* Previous experience teaching online courses at the college level

* New York State certification in Literacy/Reading.

* Doctorate in Literacy/Reading Education or related field.

* At least three years of B-12 teaching of reading
